The well-timed log changes in the Bill of Material (BOM) are planned via complex web-based functionalities. Even with dependencies of the electronic components in the product, this system is used successfully.
This coordination process will be illustrated below using the example of the technical snapshot. A technical snapshot includes the coordinated and defined hardware and software configuration over the entire scope of a series.
With logistical resource planning, technical snapshots can be created and managed in a system-supported workflow. It provides the consolidated data of a technical snapshot as a central source of information. A comprehensible change history and the depiction of interdependencies support the users in the material planning. The scope of application for a technical snapshot is determined automatically.
Logistic resource planning then automatically generates data to provide the interfaces to neighboring systems in a timely manner. Evaluations of technical snapshots can be called up as dynamically created Excel sheets.
The machine processing in the logistics planning allows a high frequency of change and flexibility and continues to guarantee manufacturers of complex products their lead in the market.

The technology is based on a Java EE, 3-Tier Architecture. The JEE application runs on an Oracle Glassfish Application Server cluster under Linux. The persistent data is kept in DB2 on z/OS. Interfaces are connected via JMS for asynchronous processing, web services and JDBC (DB2 and Oracle). Existing hosted business logic is integrated through JCA and DB2 Stored Procedures.

The user interface is partly provided as Java Server Faces (JSF) in the Intranet and partly as a Rich Client (Swing) for different user groups.
